Have you ever had or known a child with cancer? We all have… We have also had the honor of visiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in Memphis, Tennessee and I can tell you this is a truly wonderful place. Where miracles happen everyday. You can not leave there without it touching your heart! Every child that goes there is a never turned away; no matter what!
We are asking everyone to participate in our local 7th annual “Papa George Fairchild Jambalaya Cook-off” benefitting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital held at St. Gabriel Catholic Church on September 14th, 2014. Through the past 4 years with your help, we have raised over $62,000.00 for children of St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Local Cooks and some from surrounding areas will be cooking Chicken Jambalaya on wood just like Papa George did in the first Jambalaya Cook-Off held in Gonzales, Louisiana in 1968. Cooking will start at 6am, and the winners announced at 1:30pm. Come on out and enjoy good music, fellowship and delicious Jambalaya cooked by some of the greatest Jambalaya cooks in the world.
Bring your lawn chairs, friends and family and sit under the old oak trees at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, or just come make a day of visiting with old friends, and make new ones while helping St. Jude Children’s Hosptal at the same time. Jambalaya will be sold for $5.00 served with white beans and bread, starting at 11am. The ladies of the area will be selling all kinds of delicious sweets! There will be a mini-pot cook-off for the children starting at 10:30am. Raffle tickets will be sold for $1.00 each to win a chance at a homemade LSU Quilt, St. Jude Children’s Quilt, and lots of other donated items. T-shirts, hats, koozies and other items will also be sold.
Free Admission and Everyone is Welcome!
Your participation in the fund-raising event is vitally important. The money raised will help fund the life-saving research and treatment at St. Jude Hospital. Please know that you can make a difference in the lives of children battling cancer and other catastrophic diseases. You have the power to save lives. From the staff, parents, and children of St. Jude, we thank you! When we cure Cancer in Children, we cure Cancer in Adults!
But “We Need You!” Cooks, Helpers, Volunteers and Donations!
